Neighbors

You are invited to participate in Clay Pittsburg’s exhibition  “Neighbors” which will be held at the Wilson Lodge Oglebay Resort, in Wheeling, West Virginia, during  Ceramics Take Over Wheeling, February 20th to March 29th.

Neighbors celebrates the special connection between ceramic artists in our two cities. 

This show will be juried by local artist and educator Peter Barbor and curated by Karen McKee and Audra Clayton, co-leaders of Clay Pittsburgh’s exhibitions committee.

Functional and sculptural ceramic works will be considered. Works must be free standing and no sides may exceed 18 inches. Works that speak to your artistic interpretation of “neighbors” are strongly encouraged. We will accept up to three submissions per artist. Sets or works with multiple pieces will be accepted as one submission.

Art may be for sale and all sales will be made directly from artists to buyers. Interested buyers will be provided artists  preferred contact information from Clay Pittsburgh’s website

Application fee is $20. This fee can be waived if it is cost prohibitive to sharing your works with us. Works will be collected in Pittsburgh (exact location TBD) and transported to Wheeling by Clay Pittsburgh.  Applications are due by January 8, 2025 and decisions will be announced by Jan 15, 2025. Works will be collected the week of Feb 3, 2025.

About our Juror:  Peter Barbor is an artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. He works between ceramics, sculpture, and drawing. He received his MFA from the University of Washington in 2017, graduating with the de Cillia Teaching with Excellence Award, and his BFA with Honors from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010.  Barbor has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has completed numerous residencies across the United States, including the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Snowmass Village, CO, and The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA. He has lectured at the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary, Canada as well as Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia, PA. Currently, he is Visual Arts Department Chair at The Ellis School.
