BG Ceramics
Host: Bennett Graves
With my functional ware, I strive to craft pieces that engage the eyes and invite the touch of the hands, lips, and fingertips. I’ve always been attuned to the tactility of ceramics, and love to highlight the unique texture of a pot’s surface. In my carving, altering, and decorating, I aim to accentuate a pot’s form and articulate its wholeness—as a visual experience, and as a material object meant to be used every day.
Having recently switched from porcelain back to stoneware (the type of clay I first fell in love with over 15 years ago), I find myself leaning away from the wheel and into various hand-building techniques as a means of manifesting more texture and variation. I look forward to debuting and sharing this new body of work with you all on the Potter’s Tour!
